DOXA Sub 300 Carbon Whitepearl Watch Review

Last year, two of DOXA’s biggest releases were their Sub 300 Carbon collection and the Sub 200 Whitepearl, two designs that upheld the dive watch manufacturer’s philosophy for bold colouring, robust cases and instant legibility. Now, those two releases unite into one mega diving instrument with the launch of the DOXA Sub 300 Carbon Whitepearl watch.

When it comes to colour experimentation, DOXA have never been fearful. Before today, the DOXA Sub 300 Carbon was available in six daring colours: the Searambler (silver), Sharkhunter (black), Caribbean (navy), Divingstar (yellow), Aquamarine (turquoise) and their most iconic colour Professional (orange). Now joining the ranks is the Whitepearl model which as its name suggests opts for a pure white dial and a matching white bezel. White-dialled divers watches aren’t a familiar site in the industry, and yet the dial of the DOXA Sub 300 Carbon Whitepearl watch delivers some of the best readability we’ve seen in an underwater instrument. The dial is fitted with white Superluminova markings on the indexes, hands and on the tip of the seconds hand. The hardware is also finished in black, including the date window border and minutes track, for legibility even during the day.

As its name suggests, the DOXA Sub 300 Carbon Whitepearl watch delivers the brand’s famous carbon case. The material was originally debuted in 2020 with the launch of the Sub 300 Carbon Aqua Lung U.S Divers Limited Edition. Carbon is a no-brainer for diving offering not only a lightweight and comfortable finish on the wrist but a unique dual-toned, almost textured-looking aesthetic. The case of the DOXA Sub 300 Carbon Whitepearl sits on the wrist at 42.5mm in diameter and with a height of 13.4mm and yet despite its imposing size, the forged carbon construction gives it a weight of only 87 grams.

The case maintains the Sub 300’s iconic cushion shape and unidirectional bezel which is this time finished in white with contrasting black markings. The markings show a twin depth-minute display including an outer depth ring and an inner minutes ring. There’s also a screw down crown and screw down titanium case back which together ensure a healthy water resistant rating of 300 metres. The DOXA Sub 300 Carbon Whitepearl watch continues its mission for durability with scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass for protection of the dial and a coating of anti-reflective treatment for effortless legibility.

Like the DOXA Sub 300 Carbon watches before it, the new Whitepearl reference is powered by a COSC-certified automatic winding movement. The calibre in question is the tried-and-tested SW 200-1 which delivers central hands for hours, minutes and seconds, a date window at 3 o’clock and a power reserve of 38 hours. We’re also guaranteed a frequency of 28,800vph and a DOXA decorated rotor which is kept housed behind the case back.

Completing the DOXA Sub 300 Carbon Whitepearl watch is a choice of two straps, the first a classic black rubber strap and the second, one that more appropriately matches with the rest of the snowy aesthetic, a white rubber strap. Both are fitted with black PVD stainless steel folding buckles adorned with the iconic DOXA fish logo. The buckles also host two pairs of push pieces, one to open the buckle and the other to release the wet suit extension.
